The Richat Structure, also known as the Eye of the Sahara and Guelb er Richat, is a prominent geological circular feature in the Sahara desert in Mauritania near Ouadane. It is nearly 50 kilometers across and the coolest part of it is that the feature is visible from space! Initially interpreted as an asteroid impact structure, which would have been way cooler because, superman, but because of its high degree of circularity, the Richat Structure is now regarded by geologists as a highly symmetrical and deeply eroded geologic dome, boring!
Some people, and by some people I mean me, are amazed by the resemblance of this structure with the representation we have of Atlantis which Plato described as concentric rings of water and land. I know I am not alone when I say I wish this was the truth about this Mysterious place in Africa because it would mean that we can finally get to see Aquaman!
So far all we can do is wait for the release date in the cinemas but the fire of hope still burns within us. Aquaman if you are out there, give us a sign, but if you look nothing like Jason Mamoa it’s okay to stay silent.
